Project Description

HMT LLP advised Mobeus Equity Partners on their Series A investment in Kudos, the award-winning service for maximising the reach and impact of academic research.

Founded in 2014, Kudos serves over a quarter of a million researchers, affiliated with over 10,000 universities and other research institutions in 190 countries. Having built the only platform dedicated to the dissemination of academic research across the multiple networks and channels available to researchers for sharing information about their work, as well as aggregating all the most relevant metrics about that work in one place, the company is uniquely positioned to enable academics to satisfy increasing funder requirements to manage, monitor and maximise the reach and impact of their work.

Mobeus’ investment will enable Kudos to expand their suite of services to increase collaboration between research groups and provide greater insights to institutions, publishers and other stakeholders, further improving the dissemination and impact of academic research.

HMT undertook financial due diligence for Mobeus on this transaction.

Jane Reoch, Investment Director at Mobeus, commented:

We are very excited about backing such a high-calibre team with first-mover advantage, unique experience and the potential to disrupt the way in which academic research is communicated and evaluated. HMT showed professionalism and expertise providing us with clear and concise advice on this transaction. Their valued input helped us to get the deal done

Paul Read commented:
