HMT advised the shareholders of Caterham Cars Limited (“Caterham Cars”) on the sale of the company to Corven Ventures for an undisclosed sum.
Established in the 1960’s, Caterham Cars manufactures and sells the Caterham Seven sports car in both kit and fully built form. There are four variants of the Caterham 7 in production; the Classic, the Roadsport, the Superlight and the CSR that can all be used on the road or for track racing. Caterham Cars employs over 70 people and sells in excess of 500 cars a year across the UK, Europe, North America and Japan.
Led by partner Andrew Thomson, HMT assisted in negotiating and structuring the transaction and managed the process on behalf of the vendors.
Andrew Thomson of HMT commented:
“HMT were delighted to be appointed to act for such a high profile and prestigious client. A particular feature of this transaction was that due to various complex structural issues, it was necessary to heavily involve our transactional tax team to ensure an efficient deal structure.”
