HMT advised Quantuma LLP (“Quantuma Restructuring”) on the financial restructuring of Aldershot Town Football Club (“Aldershot Town FC”).
Southampton-headquartered Quantuma is a restructuring and insolvency practice providing a partner led service to businesses and individuals facing financial distress. Launched in January 2013 by Carl Jackson, the business is quickly becoming the premier independent restructuring practice in the South.
Aldershot Town FC, based in Aldershot, Hampshire, was founded in 1992 after the closure of debt-ridden Fourth Division club Aldershot FC. The club, which traces its roots back to 1926, has been playing in the town centre continuously since then, and is a key part of the local community. Following their relegation from Football League Two at the end of the 2012/13 season, the club went into administration. Quantuma Partners Carl Jackson and Paul Goddard were appointed as administrators shortly thereafter.
HMT provided financial advice and assistance on the sale of the club, which has been taken over by a consortium led by former chairman Shahid Azeem.
Paul Goddard, partner at Quantuma, commented:
“We were pleased to work with HMT on the restructuring of Aldershot Town Football Club.
Football had been played at the Recreation Ground in Aldershot for the best part of a hundred years. However, following the club’s relegation from the Football League and subsequent administration, there was a real prospect of football ceasing to be played at the Rec.
HMT worked closely with us over the summer providing advice on the prospective sale of the club. As a result of that work, a successful restructuring of the club was achieved meaning the club’s loyal fans can continue to enjoy football in Aldershot.”
“We were delighted to work with Quantuma Restructuring over a very difficult close season for the club which happily resulted in the takeover led by Shahid Azeem, and we are pleased to see the Club back in the local news for all the right reasons – performances on the pitch!”
