HMT, led by partner Andrew Thomson, advised Advent Venture Partners LLP on their investment of $4.5 million in farfetch.com E-commerce Solutions Limited.
Launched at the end of 2008, farfetch.com is an online fashion marketplace which aggregates stock from 44 boutiques across Europe and the USA to create one online store which offers a wide range of clothing and accessories from a diverse selection of designers, alongside editorial content. Orders are placed on the site but fulfilled by the boutique. In addition to running the farfetch.com portal, Farfetch creates and operates individual websites for the boutiques where customers can also buy online. Farfetch has seen substantial growth in revenues since its launch, driven by the quality of boutiques secured, the robustness of its back office systems and the volume of traffic which has been generated.
Farfetch has also strengthened its management team with the appointment of Susanne Tide-Frater as Brand and Strategy Director and Andrew Robb as Chief Operating Officer to support founder José Neves.
Andrew Thomson commented:
“We were delighted to assist Advent with this project. Whilst Farfetch has achieved a lot in its short history, the involvement of Advent alongside the new appointments to the management team will open up significant opportunities for further growth.”
