HMT triumphs for the Eighth Consecutive year at 2014 Thames Valley Deals Awards
It has been a successful year again for HMT at the 2014 Thames Valley Deals Awards. HMT Partner Ian Barton was awarded ‘Corporate Finance Advisor of the Year’ and our due diligence team is the outstanding performer. We also advised the Deal of Year (under £25m) – Virgin Wines.
The Thames Valley Deals Awards gala evening took place on April 24th 2014 at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, and was attended by over 250 leading members of the region’s deal-doing community. HMT went into the evening as finalists in all four of the categories that we were eligible for, and we triumphed once again as HMT partner Ian Barton was called on the stage to receive the prestigious Corporate Finance Advisor of the Year award.
In addition to this first success, our due diligence team lead by HMT director Paul Read were recognised as the ‘Outstanding Due Diligence Performer’ during the evening. HMT has continued to prosper in 2013 developing a range of entrepreneurial services and advising on over 25 deals with an aggregate value of over £400million.
We are delighted to have been rewarded at both the Thames Valley Deals Awards for the 8th consecutive year, together with being recognised as one of the top 3 company’s to work for (under 100 employees) at the Business Awards last November. Moreover, the MBO of Virgin Wines by Mobeus and Connection Capital, which HMT advised on, won the “Deal of the Year” under £25million. Indeed HMT is proud to have advised on 4 deals that were nominated in the Deal of the Year category.
During the gala evening, all attendees raised money for Brain Tumour Research, a charity which raises substantial funds for research into the prevention and treatment of brain tumours. The HMT table was the most generous in the room, and we raised £255 to support this charity.
Speaking of the successful evening and entire preceding year, Ian commented:
“I’m absolutely delighted to have won the CF Adviser of the Year and continue HMT’s run of being the winning firm every year that the Deal Awards have been hosted by The Business Magazine. I’m grateful to all our clients we have worked with this year including Swift and TNT Post on complex cross border deals as well as local entrepreneurial businesses such as Southern Communications.
Its testament to our growing team at HMT that we have delivered great deals for each of these clients. Having completed 25 deals worth over £400m in 2013, we continue to see a vibrant deals market, with several notable deals looking to complete in the coming months.”
Paul Read, Director at HMT commented on our due diligence team’s success:
“I am very pleased that HMT is recognised as the Due Diligence Outstanding Performer at the Thames Valley Deals Awards this year. Our team has made tremendous efforts during 2013-2014 offering financial due diligence services for 14 companies including The Deal of the year (under £25m) Virgin Wines. We will carry on our hard work this year and we hope to be Due Diligence Team of the Year at the 2015 Thames Valley Deals Awards.”
