Investment in The Marketing Practice
HMT LLP acted as lead advisors to the shareholders of leading independent B2B agency The Marketing Practice (“TMP”) on their investment from Horizon Capital (“Horizon”).
Established in 2002, TMP is a global, business-to-business marketing agency headquartered in Oxfordshire, with offices in Oxford, Munich, Seattle and Sydney. The agency focuses on integrating all marketing disciplines in one place to design and run B2B marketing programmes.
The investment from Horizon Capital comes at a time of change in the B2B market, as clients adapt to disruption in sales and distribution models accelerated by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The funding will be used to create a new global leader in B2B marketing, building on The Marketing Practice’s existing strengths and market position. As well as organic growth and acquisitions, The Marketing Practice plans to further invest in its TMP Academy training platform to develop the combination of marketing and technical skills B2B clients are seeking.
Following the transaction, Luke Kingston and Matt Morris of Horizon Capital and Trevor Rolls as Chairman have joined the board, alongside the CEO Matt Harper and founder Clive McNamara.
HMT acted as lead advisors on the transaction which included assessing the strategic options for the shareholders and management, negotiating detailed investment terms, financial modelling, tax structuring and project managing the deal to a successful completion.
