Rockpool backs cloud IT infrastructure specialist ERA

HMT LLP advised Rockpool Investments on their growth capital investment in ERA, a growing provider of cloud IT infrastructure services to the media and entertainment industries.

ERA delivers cloud infrastructure-as-a-service solutions to a broad range of customers within the post-production, visual effects and broadcast media sectors. The company provides virtual workstations, storage-as-a-service, workflow applications, connectivity and cloud archiving solutions, in both private and public cloud environments.

ERA’s bespoke offering allows customers to scale up their IT infrastructure to meet increasingly sophisticated editing and rendering requirements. Remote access to high performance computing resource and clients’ ability to operate from office lite environments is expected to drive continued demand for ERA’s cloud-based infrastructure services.

Rockpool is backing the existing management team with additional growth capital to expand ERA’s service offering. The management team will be supported by Roger Flynn, who joined the board as Non-Executive Chairman at completion of Rockpool’s investment. Roger is a highly experienced private equity Chairman with extensive media and technology expertise.

HMT undertook financial due diligence for Rockpool on this transaction.

Tom Coey, Investment Manager at Rockpool commented:

“It was a pleasure to work with the team at HMT again on this transaction. We valued Paul and Hamish’s pragmatic approach to the FDD workstream which enabled us to understand ERA’s key financial metrics in more detail. Toby and I look forward to working with the HMT again in the near future.”

Paul Read commented:

“We are delighted to have advised Rockpool on their investment in ERA. With Rockpool’s support, ERA will be able to accelerate their growth strategy and become a market leader in cloud IT solutions for the media and entertainment industries. We look forward to working with Rockpool again in the future.”
