Andrew Thomson
Managing Partner
Andrew is Managing Partner of HMT and Chairman of our global network, Cognos.
Andrew qualified with Ernst & Young in 1987 before leaving in 1992 to establish HMT. Under his leadership, HMT has grown into one of the UK’s leading independent M&A advisory firms.
One of the UK’s most experienced and passionate Corporate Finance Advisers, Andrew has an exceptional track record of more than 400 completed transactions throughout his career. His expertise spans buy-side private equity, fundraising and sell-side transactions for business owners.
Andrew has extensive experience across the UK mid-market and has built strong relationships throughout the corporate, private equity and financing communities. He is renowned for delivering outstanding outcomes and securing exceptional returns for stakeholders.
Andrew has been named ‘Corporate Finance Adviser of the Year’ at the Thames Valley Deals Awards a record five times.
Downtime
Andrew lives in Chalfont St Giles and, despite sounding extremely English, is very proud of his Scottish roots.
Away from work and family life, Andrew enjoys spending time in the Highlands, as well as shooting and rugby. His days on the rugby pitch may be behind him, but he remains an enthusiastic spectator — preferably from a safe distance.
